Video Lessons on Demand

After taking a training on SmartBoards for math class. I discovered a new tool to help students prepare for the regents exams. I started using the Smart Recorder to record video lessons on topics specific to class. So far I have created three of them that are specific to HW assignments that I have assigned in class. I would like to eventually make a whole series of them that can be used to help students with crucial review for the Integrated Algebra Regents. So far, a few of my students have used them and it has helped all but one with completing their assignments. I hope to get some other people on board with the idea to create a set that could be available to all students in the district.

xpmath.com and Stations

Trying to find new and inventive ways to use my technology, I stumbled upon xpmath.com. I found some great games that help students reinforce their basic skills with Algebra. I decided to create a competition during a stations review for two games called "Inequality Wars" and "Halo: Slope". Each game dealt with concepts for Integrated Algebra. I offered students in my 3 classes bonus points or a candy bar if they finished in the top 3 in either game. The stations post review will be completed tomorrow and hopefully this will be the first of many competitions I hope to have during the rest of the year.
